✍️ [My English Journey] Day 3 – I Couldn’t Speak, But I Understood Everything

Today, I joined a team meeting that was held entirely in English.
At first, I was nervous. I didn’t plan to speak, but I wanted to test how much I could understand.

As the meeting went on, I realized I could follow almost everything.
The team discussed deployment schedules, pipeline issues, and how to improve observability.
I knew all the terms, and I understood the flow of the conversation.

But when someone casually asked me a question, my mind froze.
I understood the question, but I couldn’t respond fast enough.
My English speaking didn’t match what I understood.

Still, I felt proud.
Two months ago, I couldn’t even follow a technical discussion in English.
Now, I understand nearly everything—I just need to keep practicing how to respond.

From now on, I’ll try to speak at least once in every meeting.
Even just saying “I agree” or “Let me check that” can help build confidence.

📘 Korean Translation (한글 번역)

오늘은 전체가 영어로 진행되는 팀 미팅에 참석했습니다.
처음에는 긴장됐고, 말을 할 생각은 없었지만, 얼마나 이해할 수 있는지를 확인하고 싶었습니다.

회의가 진행되면서 거의 모든 내용을 따라갈 수 있다는 걸 깨달았습니다.
팀은 배포 일정, 파이프라인 이슈, 모니터링 개선에 대해 이야기했고,
그 모든 용어들과 대화 흐름을 저는 다 이해할 수 있었습니다.

하지만 누군가 저에게 가볍게 질문을 던졌을 때, 머리가 하얘졌습니다.
질문은 분명히 들렸지만, 바로 말로 대답이 안 나왔습니다.
제 말하기 실력이 이해력만큼 따라주지 않았던 거죠.

그래도 저는 뿌듯했습니다.
두 달 전만 해도 영어로 된 기술 회의는 아예 못 따라갔거든요.
이제는 거의 다 이해합니다—이제는 대답하는 연습만 더 하면 됩니다.

앞으로는 매 미팅마다 최소 한 문장은 꼭 말해보려고 합니다.
“맞아요(I agree)” 또는 “확인해볼게요(Let me check that)”처럼 간단한 표현부터 자신감을 쌓아볼 생각입니다.
